David Barker is a partner in Barker Companies, which owns, manages, and develops apartments and other real estate. He is also a Visiting Scholar at the University of Iowa and has been an Adjunct Professor at the University of Chicago, where he taught real estate investment to MBA students for ten years, and urban economics for four years. Barker has published articles in academic journals, his research has been covered in Time Magazine, The New York Times, and The Economist, and he has appeared on numerous television and radio programs. Barker was previously an economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, where he conducted research on real estate and the banking industry. He holds a B.A. degree from the University of California at Berkeley, and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago. He lives in Iowa City, Iowa.
