Penny Lee is a seasoned political and communications strategist with over 20 years of experience. She has worked extensively in both the public and private sectors advising political candidates, Fortune 500 companies, and non-profits with strategic positioning, political strategy, brand identity, and advocacy. Lee is presently Chief Strategy Officer for 1776, the largest network of entrepreneurial incubators in the Northeast Corridor. She works to develop and formalize the strategy necessary to execute the company’s business agenda both internally and externally. Her prior roles include serving as the top communications and political advisor to U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Executive Director of the Democratic Governors Association, Communications Director for Pennsylvania Governor Edward Rendell, and as a member of the senior staff of the Democratic National Committee. Lee is an active angel investor and currently serves as on the executive board of K Street Capital, a Washington, D.C.-based angel investment group. She also serves on the Advisory Board of The Vinetta Project, an organization dedicated to supporting high growth female entrepreneurs. An avid golfer, Lee serves on the Board of Trustees at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Virginia and has served on Board of the First Tee of Greater Washington. Previously, she also served on the Advisory Board for Bloomberg Government. She holds a BA with a double major in journalism and political science from Baylor University.
